Hi man! My name is Dr. Stephen de Wit and I’m a sexologist. Today we’re going to take on another sex myth – the one that says men think about sex every 7 seconds. I don’t know where this came from but after doing the research, it’s just not accurate.
Sure, we think about sex, there’s nothing wrong with that. But we can’t make generalizations like “all men do this” or “all men do that.” What if you think about it every three seconds? What if you think about it every seven hours? I don’t know about you, but for me if I’m stressed or if I got a lot of work and things going on, I’m not thinking about sex all the time.
There’s this myth out there that, as men, we have to be sexual and we have to be thinking about it all the time. The reality is, men have been given permission to be more sexual and women have been given more permission to be more emotional. In fact, we’re a combination of a lot of things and we’re complex beings with many, many different factors that go on in our lives.
So men thinking about sex every 7 seconds? That’s a myth and it’s been busted.
