Why are we doing this?
We want to do everything we can to provide assistance to Ontarians so they can get the medical support they need, without leaving their home. ON MEN’s telehealth platform is uniquely suited to help in a number of ways: Unburdening hospitals and clinics. Coronavirus fears may overcrowd and overburden our healthcare system, making it more challenging and costly for people who need in-person or emergency care to find it. We’re hopeful that ON MEN’s free telehealth service will reduce the strain on providers who are treating higher-risk and sicker patients, while providing free online primary care and pharmacy services to all Ontarians. Advising symptomatic COVID-19 patients We expect that people suffering from the common cold or the flu will be concerned about COVID-19. Initially talking to a remote doctor via telehealth, can provide comfort and guidance on how to address their symptoms, get healthy, and reduce the spread to others. For those at risk of COVID-19, ON MEN affiliated doctors can advise them on appropriate next steps, whether that’s to self-quarantine or seek additional care. This is also important to protect our health care providers on the front line.
Is it safe to seek treatment through ON MEN telehealth platform?
Yes, ON MEN’s telehealth is a safe and secure means of seeking medical advice and treatment, from the comfort of your home, especially under the current circumstances where it is not advisable to expose yourself or your family to other patients or surfaces in the waiting room and pharmacies. ON MEN uses sophisticated encryption technology for data storage and transfer, so your information is safe with us. It is an approved means of delivering healthcare by the OTN.
